Resources:
The Homeless Alliance of Western
New York engages in a variety of data collection
activities in order to better understand homeless and
other disadvantaged populations and the programs that
serve them. These research efforts include monthly facility
snapshots; surveys of local shelter, transitional, and
permanent housing locations; focus groups with clients;
and interviews with key personnel. The Alliance is
also involved in community-based research efforts
offering expertise in the areas of outcome measurement,
needs assessment, and evaluation.
BAS-Net, Buffalo and Erie
County’s Homeless Management Information System, is a
valuable research tool for the community, helping to improve understanding of the extent and nature of local homelessness.
